Ebony Magazine

       While looking at the cover of the magazine of Ebony this at first look to me as a positive covers. Because you can see that their are picture of some important people and actors. The people are dressed really pretty and looking happy and smiling in some of the picture. This magazine is intended to the black people during that time of the years. Later on looking at the covers of the magazine I started to look at the letter in the magazine and some of it really got to me. I was thinking that some of the caption on the cover of the magazine are not right. Such as the picture looks great and the writing has something else on it. I want to put some out their so you can see. In the 1945 cover it has picture of white children and one black child and the writing says "children's crusade" what does that mean their their is only one child that is black but the other are white and what kind of crusade is their. The other one that I saw was in 1952 where it show that Buke say that most exciting woman I know and in small caption it says " white by day and black my night" to me I think that was not right for what they had wrote their and it like saying about the race. the other one I saw was by Lois armstrong when he says " why I like dark woman, and it says what wac's do for love" I am not sure what it means by wac's do for love but it showing some kind of bad things about black. To me I was thinking that it a magazine about black it shouldn't have this on the cover pages because it making them look bad and I think that they should be putting up some pictures and caption of the black in a good way not putting bad things. At first I had thought it was cover of positive things but later on getting really deep into it and looking at the writing it got to me it can be positive picture but the caption are negative. But I do see some famous and actor in the image. Their are people that did good like Martin Luther King pictures, Malcolm X, Louis Armstrong, baseball players, singers and actors that are a part of the covers. I am thinking that Ebony is a magazine for a black person they should put up some positive and maybe less of negative things up on the cover. Yes I know that when putting up magazine people will read the cover and they would want to buy it to read depth into it when their are negative things on it. Like now a days when getting a magazine any kind their are negative things are pictures of actors braking up and not being together and people see it and want to buy it or read into it and to me I understand why people put that on the cover. I would pick up thing in the store and read about it my self. But I see in some places why Ebony has good picture but the writing is not good because they want to sell the magazine out to people so they can make business. 

Movie of a Black Families on Television:

        When I was growing up I would watch The French Prince of Bel-Air with my brother and sisters and they would laugh to it and I would always asked them why they are laughing. They would say when you grow up and watch this you will understand right now we can't explain. When I grow up I started to watch it also and I really enjoyed it because it a about a family and it is comedy I love movies or show that makes me smile or laugh. So while watching this on you tube I really enjoyed it. This video has good parts and bad parts in it. This clip that I have put is about a black family being together and enjoying their day with each other. Each of the family are their for one another and helping each other out. They all get along with each other but at times they don't but every family is like that. This family is open with each other and they share many things. I remember the part when the aunt and uncle are on top of each other, and Will comes down and he start to scream saying he is coming down. The uncle is explaining to Will what they are doing and it not the other thing that he is thinking. The other thing that I saw in the video is how the family member all sits together and they are watching Television together as a family and making comments. That so beautiful now a days you don't see that and it makes me sad wishing we can go back to that kind of thing. Also the family members show each other tricks and they eating breakfast together and the mother prepares it for them. This was such a good video. What I have seen in video and real life is true. I have a black friend and I have been over her house a lot. The family is always together while doing things. Also they are really fun people to be around they make you laugh and tells you jokes. I really enjoy when I go to my friend house and a times I even tell my family we should do things like that.

        The Negative things that I have seen in the movie makes me sad and think that it really shouldn't be in the movie. The other thing in the clip was when they try to make people laugh at time but it not right and doesn't look good. He put chopsticks in his nose and looks around. To me I wouldn't like it and appreciate it when someone does that because they are not putting a good look into other people eyes they are making them self look bad. People would think that " Oh black people does steal or does that because it shows it in the movie." In this clip what I saw and I didn't like was that when Will was stealing spoons from the cabinet I think that shouldn't be in the  clip because it was showing that black people steals things. Also the other thing was that when will and his brother goes into someone else house and they are not invited or welcome and looks for things and that is when the video stops. In this video I think that it is not only black people who are bad and does these things many different people from different nationality has problem like this. But in video when I see this it make me sad and I think that is why people are blaming the black people for this because they see it. I would say that everyone has their own problems and it not only putting finger to one person or family.

not having the power

I am a student in Chabot College and going to transfer to Cal State East Bay this fall. I was born in Berkeley California. I have gone through many hard and difficult time in my life. I had some rough time in school. I was always getting picked on in Middle School which I would never wanted to go to school again. At time I wouldn't want to go to school when leaving my house I would cry and beg not to go. I was made fun of what I would wear and how I would talk. I was not feeling as I was a part of this world. I would try to hide my self throughout the middle school years in the library. Another rough time was when September 11, 2001. When the twin tours had an attack and it was said that the muslim people had done this. For me it was hard those days also thats when  everything went different way and how people would think about us. When people would see me they would say that I am a terrorist but really I am not a terrorist.  People would say many different things to me. I was not a person in power and I felt all left out. One day my principal came to talk to me and told me what is wrong. He was saying that I don't talk or socialize with others and I look sad.  I had told him what had happen he told me to be strong and to stand up for my self. So one day a boy called me a terrorist , and I was like "I am not a terrorist how do you not know if you guys are the terrorist and just blaming another country for it."  After standing up to my self many things has changed and went well. Throughout High school I stood up for my self and didn't let people talk to me in a bad way. When I stood up for my self and talk back had made a big differences. A person who doesn't have power over them self, people can walk all around them and it can hurt. I was hurt  a lot but after talking back it made a difference. Also the people who has more power can over rule everything. It is hard for a person to not have power because they will not mean anything to anyone and they can't do much. I say that everyone shouldn't let people step all over them. They need to speak up and stand up for them self no matter what nationality they are and where they are living or grown up. Everyone needs to have power and to be brave. I see that many people judge and talk about African American also and say things but it is not true. People just believe what people are saying and not seeing it for themselves. I think that is not right and also their are always fingers getting pointed at African American and I say that not right. 

Homework

While looking at the picture it was giving me a feeling about how people are thinking of other people in different ways and thinking the wrong way. In this image their is a African American child and a white child. On the ad it is saying that the African American girl is dirty and not clean. On the bottom of the picture it saying that if her mamma washes her with soap. Also it remind me in class how we got into a groups. And we talked about how their are different ways of people think. It is true that people are being judge by others. They always have to blame The negro people about things that they are not sure of it, they just listen to what people are saying. People are thinking that by the skin that black people are not clean. I say that is not true and it is not right to judge someone by the color. Also in this society people are not looking for the answer. They are hearing it from others around them and they are believing what they are being told.  I see it all the time and say that it is not right for them to do such a thing. Everyone is a human being and they should be respected in a right away as other should be treated. People listen to others and they go as what they are being told and thinking that when a person say that it is right. People think of African American (negro) people in a wrong way and they should see it for their self. In the ad that I have choose it is saying that the white child is thinking that the African American child is not clean and dirty that she was asking the child if her mom is washing her or does she take a shower. Also in the image it is showing the clothing style of the white girl and African American girl is different. In the image is is showing that the African American child doesn't have her shoes on her clothing are torn. The white child has shoes on and how she is clean and neat she has a book in her hand. To me it is saying that the whites are more educated than the African American.  Also in this image it makes me sad how they are showing one person to be rich and good looking than the other child. I say that everyone can be different and look different but it is not right to judge. Every person in this country and world can't really afford what other can so I say that everyone should respect each other and be nice. Also in this ad it makes a different and on each race and how they are different by the features. I have notice in this environment that people can just judge you by the features, the looks, the way you dress and how you look overall. I say that everyone in this world is different and they come from a different area so they should respect everyone even the African American as they are treated.
